Hot Topic is the daughter of Vanessa's favorite event mare, Reno Rain (who was approved for the American Hanoverian pre-stud book, receiving the second highest score of the day even though most of the mares presented were warm bloods). Hot Topic is the spitting image of her mother but has taken on more substance all the way around from her sire, Loach (also a thoroughbred). Topic's pedigree is filled to the brim with ancestors who are known for their influence on sport horse breeding. Loach was chosen for his long race career (staying sound for six years of racing), his compact, solid conformation and his sweet and calm disposition.
